AIM Assessment for Children Under 12 Who Display HSB

Two day Course on AIM Under 12s Assessment Model for Children who display problematic or harmful sexual behaviours
Target audience
This course is targeted at experienced professionals who are working with children under the age of 12 years, who are presenting with problematic or harmful sexual behaviours.
This includes Practitioners in Social Care, Youth Offending and Specialist Providers.
Participants should have a basic understanding of harmful sexual behaviours, either gained through attendance at our foundation courses or through relevant practice experience.
In addition, participants also need to have practice experience of complex assessments generally and ideally some experience of assessments of sexual behaviours.
Course Aim
This two-day course aims to develop practice confidence and competence in completing an AIM Under 12s Assessment on a child under 12 years old and developing targeted safety plans for them and their families.
This training provides the practitioner with skills in analyzing problematic and harmful sexual behaviour to create profiles of risk and need and develop through case formulation, effective safety plans.
Competency Requirement Please note: We have introduced a competency requirement for this course, to increase the quality of assessments undertaken and improve the impact on outcomes for children.
Participants will be expected to complete a case study at the end of the course, to demonstrate their understanding of the AIM Under 12s model and their potential ability to implement their learning from the course into practice.
If successful, the participants will then be certified as competent and approved by AIM to use the AIM Under 12s model. This certificate will be valid for a period of three years after which time a Reapproval course should be undertaken.
Post course, quality assurance on how AIM Under 12s is used in practice should be provided through the practitioner’s line management.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course participants will:
(i) Have competence in undertaking an AIM Under 12s assessment
