AIM3 Assessment for Adolescents Who Display HSB

 AIM3 Assessment Model Training
Target audience
This course is targeted at experienced professionals who are working with adolescents with harmful sexual behaviours (HSB). This includes practitioners in Social Care, Youth Offending and Specialist HSB Providers.
Participants should have a basic understanding of harmful sexual behaviours, either gained through attendance at our foundation courses or through relevant practice experience.
In addition, participants also need to have practice experience of complex assessments generally and ideally some experience of assessments of sexual behaviours.
Course Aim
This two-day course aims to develop practice confidence and competence in completing an AIM3 Assessment with a young person. This training provides the practitioner with skills in analyzing harmful sexual behaviour to create profiles of risk and need and develop through case formulation, effective safety plans.
Competency Requirement Please note: We have introduced a competency requirement for this course, to increase the quality of assessments undertaken and improve the impact on outcomes for young people.
Participants will be expected to complete a case study at the end of the course, to demonstrate their understanding of the AIM3 model and their potential ability to implement their learning from the course into practice.
If successful, the participants will then be certified as competent and approved by AIM to use the AIM3 model. This certificate will be valid for a period of three years after which time a refresher course should be undertaken.
Post course, quality assurance about how AIM3 is used in practice should be provided through the practitioners’ line management.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course participants will:
(i) Have competence in undertaking an AIM3 assessment
(ii) Know the relevant information to collect and collate re HSB
(iii) Be able to analyse the relevant information to develop a profile of the young person, their family and context using the AIM3 model
(iv) Have confidence in developing safety and intervention plans responsive to the AIM3 assessment profile
