Karen Martin – AIM Deputy Director

Karen Martin has newly joined AIM as the Deputy Director, after a number of years as an AIM Associate. Karen is a senior practitioner, trainer, and consultant with over 20 years’ experience in safeguarding with particular expertise in child sexual abuse (CSA) and harmful sexual behaviour (HSB). Her background spans youth justice, social care, residential services, and specialist HSB provision, combining extensive frontline practice with leadership and service development.
At AIM, Karen works with the Director to provide operational leadership, contributing to organisational direction, training, and resource development. Alongside her leadership role, she continues to deliver training in the AIM3 Assessment Model and leads and delivers AIM’s Supervising HSB Practice training, reflecting her commitment to remaining grounded in practice.
Karen also works independently with a wide range of organisations, including local authorities, education, and third-sector services, offering training, consultation, and service development. She has particular expertise in assessment, formulation, and workforce development, with a strong focus on applying frameworks such as AIM3 in thoughtful and practical ways. Her work is rooted in relationship-based, trauma-informed practice, supporting professionals and systems to respond to risk, safety, and change with clarity and confidence.
